We’re carpooling to South Colton, NY!
(It’s a 7 hour drive from NYC)
OK, right out, this adventure is weather dependent. So, although this region has received plenty of snow, there’s no guarantee that there’s going to be good snow to sled over on this weekend. But, after repeated calls to the outfitter, the snow is already great and expected to get better. Keep your fingers crossed.
Also, this is a 3-day, 2-night trip. We depart Friday morning, arriving late at night. We’re checking in to a rustic lodge with no running water, toilets, or electricity, however, there are heated bathrooms, etc in a separate area. The lodge is heated by a central wood-burning stove.
Next morning, we have a hearty breakfast and the 1st group meet their sled team. There will be tour of heated kennels, training, and finally, getting out. During our time, you will be taking turns riding in the sled and mushing. Afterwards, we go eat, snow shoe, explore, and other shenanigans.
Next day is the 2nd group’s turn. I will be filming the entire experience. Rest of day is making our way back home.
You’re welcome to drive in your own vehicle. Room for 7. $250/person per day, which includes lodging. We have to provide our own meals. Carpooling is free, but helping out with gas and tolls will be appreciated. This trip is rated Beginner.
